He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Murrell and Frances Parker Murrell; his wife Diane Hillman Murrell; and his siblings, James Murrell, Norma Brown and Paul Murrell.
He is survived by: his sons, John Murrell, Jr. (Valerie) of Princess Anne, Timothy Murrell of Salisbury and Dean Murrell (Patricia) of Parsonsburg; his grandchildren, Erika, Matthew (Rebecca) and Mark; his great grandchildren, Jordan, Jada and Kyree; and his siblings-in-law, James Tamosaitis, Sr. of Salisbury and Joan Murrell of Jarrettsville.
