He was predeceased by: his father Cyrus West; his wives, Louise Conaway West and Cindy D. West; and his brother Vernon C. West. He is survived by: his son Walter Lee West Jr. (Teresa); his grandchildren, Taylor Louise McCormick (Brandon) and Dillon Cyrus West (Sarah Wells); and his great grandchild Waylon Lee West.
