He was predeceased by: his parent Jefferson Mears; his daughter Lori Lynn Travers; and his siblings, Wade Mears, Mary Grace Jester, Joanne Hickman and Jane Lang.
He is survived by: his parent Virginia Holland Mears; his brothers, Tom Mears (Nancy) of Princess Anne and John Mears, Sr. of Pocomoke City; his siblings-in-law, Anita Mears of Snow Hill and Leonard Jester of Chincoteague; and his friends, Norman Schultz and Janet Schultz. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
