She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Paul Althouse and Ora Belle Crow Althouse; her brother Paul Althouse of Woolwich, Maine; and her children, Catherine of San Marcos and Robert of West Hartford, Connecticut. She was also cherished by six grandchildren.
Upon her return to the East Coast in 1964 she did laboratory work at The Children's Cancer Research Foundation in Boston.
