She was predeceased by: her parents, Elsie Lee Orrison (Barden) and Charles Franklin Orrison; her husband Gerald Lamar Smith (Jerry); and her brother Stan Orrison (Diane) of Lago Vista, Texas.. She is survived by: her children, Gerald Smith of Roanoke, Gina Thomas of Falls Church and Garry Smith (Karyn) of Fredericksburg, Virginia.; her grandchildren, Troy Thomas (Maria Sarmiento) of Haymarket, Hayley Thomas of Charlotte and Corey Thomas of Falls Church, Virginia.; her great grandchild Noah Alexander Thomas; and her nephews, Keith Orrison (Jean) and Scott Orrison (Tracy).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church mentioned above, the National Lutheran Home, 9701 Viers Mill Dr. Rockville Maryland 20850, or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
