It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Joseph Swopshire of Elkton, Maryland, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on December 4, 2023, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parent Willie Mae Williams; and his close friend Mary E. "Cookie" Bowser. He is survived by: his children, William Swopshire, Jr. (Teisha), Lavern Hairston, Charlestine "Cherry" Thompson, Charles "Brubby" Thompson, Jr., Charlene Wilson (Clyde), Clifton Thompson, Sr., Shelby Hall (Jemaine) and Dee Shaw; his grandchildren, Keion Swain of William Swain, P. J, Hawkins, L. J. Hamilton, Tobias Thompson and Tawan Wilson; his siblings, Frances Fulgham, Melva Williams, Phyllis Williams, Geraldine Stringfellow, Jacqueline Odenwald, Barbara Bogan, Stanley Williams, Leo Williams and Johnny Williams; his granddaughter Shayla Swain; and his great grandchild Serenity Swain. He is also survived by other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
