He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois James and Clarence Diem; his son Michael Diem; and his brothers, Clarence Diem (Deed), Everett Diem (Bud) and Robert Diem.

He is survived by: his wife Anita Pellis Diem; his daughters, Alison Diem Cizek (Montgomery), Lois Diem (Lithonia) and Cindi Diem (Prattville); his stepchildren, David Bowrin, Diane Harsha (Robert) and Michael Bowrin (Barbara); his sisters, Norma Diem Cook (Leslie), Saralie Diem Smithson (Edward) and Esther Lee (late Lowell); and his granddaughter Lauren Cizek Marshall (Everett). He is also survived by five step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces amd nephews.
