He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Harman (Nee Baker) and Howard E. Harman; and his brother Howard E. Harman. He is survived by: his wife Judith L. Harman (Nee Reese); his children, John R. Harman, Jr. (Abbe) and Diane R. Haislip (Jesse); his brother Raymond Harman; and his grandchildren, Shannon Harman, Garrett Harman and Cameron Haislip.

In lieu of flowers. the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
