He is survived by: his wife Mary McLellan Winkelmes; his children, Mary-Ann Winkelmes of Arlington and Donald H. Winkelmes, Jr. of Westwood; and his grandson Oliver Hamilton. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
