He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Kirby and Bettina Kirby (Woodsum); his siblings, William "Bill" Kirby and Margaret "Margie"; his brother-in-law Frank McLane; and his sister Bettina "Betty" Bezo.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Kirby (Swanson); his daughter Nicole; his son-in-law Kevin Pratt of Holyoke; his daughter Sara Popp of Westfield; his grandchildren, Kathryn, Mackenzie, Mary-Elyse and Erin; his brother John; his siblings-in-law, Linda Kirby and Edward Bezo; and his sister Kathleen "Kathy" Kirby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
