He is survived by: his parents, Ronald Thornton (Babe) and Helen Thornton; his wife Ruth Thornton (Hennequin); his children, Kathy Holmes (Marty), Hadley, Susan Rigali (Brian) of Southampton, Michael Thornton (Pam) of Granby, Peter Thornton (Tina) and Longmeadow; and his brother John Thornton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Donations in Mikes name may be made to Griffin's Friends Children's Cancer Fund or to First Congregational Church of South Hadley.
