He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Shea (Sullivan); his parents, Albert J. Shea and Evelyn Shea (Gammon); and his siblings, James A. Shea and Eileen E. Sullivan (Philip).

He is survived by: his children, Carolyn O'Malley (Stephen) of Bridgewater, Robert J. Shea, Jr. (Tracey) of Burlington, NC, Susan Shea of Pembroke and Kimberly West (David) of Pembroke; his grandchildren, David (Arielle), Patrick, Ryan West and RJ; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Sugarbubs, Maeve, Kelly and Morgan; and his sister-in-law Grace Shea of Hyde Park. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
