He was predeceased by: his parents, G. Robert Heikkila and Sylvia Heikkila (Maguire); and his siblings, Gary (Cheryl Heikkila), Rob (Deborah Heikkila), Carol (John O'Brien), Donn (Tara Heikkila) and Jill (Tim Ribbe).

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Heikkila (Geloran); his daughters, Rachel Heikkila and Justine Cooper; his sons-in-law, Robert Mackiewicz and Kevin Cooper; his grandchildren, Aiden Green, Brendan Cooper, Olivia Green, Austin Cooper and Leighton Cooper; and his siblings, Glenn Heikkila, Cheryl (Peter Wessel) and Deborah Heikkila (Jim Whalen).
