He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hakes and Lena Hakes (Schemerhorn); his son William F. Hakes; and his brothers, George and Edward Hakes.
He is survived by: his wife Grace Arigoni; his son Stephen Hakes (Natalie) of Adams; and his grandchildren, Olivia Moran, Jesse Hakes and Bethani Hakes. He is also survived by six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
