He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Andrew Porter and Sona Grace Porter (Hamm); his children, Gail A. Assante (John) of Adams, Jennifer J. Deer (John) of Guilderland, NY and David W. Porter (Michele) of Clearwater, FL.; his granddaughters, Sherry Young, Caitlin Porter, Meghan Fuson, Heather Saunders, Misty Labshere, Eva Assante, Angela Cottrell and Amber Cottrell; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Elliott, Holden, Jonas, Brittany, Josie, Brandon, Allison, Chase, Madison and Oliver; his sister Jeanne Smallwood of Patton, ME; and his daughter Constance R. Porter. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
