He is survived by: his wife Martha Lee of Adams, MA; his stepdaughter Sarah Schirmer of New Orleans, LA; his children, Robert Thistle (Ruth Cohen) of Pittsfield, MA and Melanie Thistle-Diehl (Ted Diehl) of Chatham, MA; his grandchildren, John Thistle, Patricia Thistle and Harte Diehl; his brother-in-law Robert Matthews; his nephew Thomas Matthews; his nieces, Kristin Matthews and Jennifer Cichetti; and his child Pat (Doll).
