He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Melancon and Mary Thomas; and his siblings, Albert Melancon, Junius Melancon, Joseph Melancon, Wilbert Melancon, Thelma Anderson, Eva Dell Rochon, Willa Duhon and Celeste Duhon.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hardy Melancon of Youngsville; his children, Jeremy Melancon of Youngsville and Erica Melancon Fox (Kevin) of Houston, TX; his grandsons, Israel Fox and Isaiah Fox; and his sisters, Christiana Chaisson of Lafayette and Merline Pierre of Lafayette.
