He was predeceased by: his wife Audie Ulmer Simons; his children, Wendell H. Simons and Colonel Hedy C. Pinkerton; his parents, Marion Simons and Ola Hatten Simons; and his sisters, Margaret Herring and Marion Ozment.
He is survived by: his sister Frankie Boswell of Little Rock, AR; his son-in-law Colonel James Pinkerton; his grandchildren, Gregory Simons of Olla, LA, Lieutenant Colonel Jason Pinkerton of San Antonio, TX, Ashlee Simons Cherry of Old Hickory, TN, Holly Delaney of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Pinkerton of Colorado Springs, CO; and his sister-in-law Agnes Andrews of Clayton, LA. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren.
