Theodore Roosevelt Dorsey Obituary
Theodore Roosevelt Dorsey departed this earthly life at the age of 91, on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at West Jefferson Hospital; he was born on December 26, 1931. Theodore was the husband of the late Adeline Lemon Dorsey.
Theodore was a resident of Westwego and Marrero, Louisiana; he later moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War; he was later employed by Greyhound Lines Inc., for 32 years, as a maintenance worker until his retirement. He enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints football games as well as the worldwide news.
Theodore leaves to cherish his memory, his 2 sons– Drexel Posey Dorsey Sr. (Sheila) and Dexter Dorsey; 4 grandchildren–Drexel P. Dorsey Jr., Iri Jon (Feltus) Frazier, Shantell (Cecil) Tate, and Alana Dorsey; 6 great-grandchildren– Iyanna Franklin, Marcus Cross, Jamel Wilson, Desmond Tate, and Trent and Trinnity Brown; 3 sisters-in-law–Arie Lemon Howard, Alice Lemon Porter, and Kathleen Lemon Brooks; 1 niece–Patricia Woodside; 3 nephews–Rodrick Woodside, Glenn Woodside Sr., and Elgin Woodside; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Theodore was preceded in death by his wife–Adeline Lemon Dorsey; mother–Surfronia Hawkins; grandparents–Eli and Surfronia Hawkins; and brother–Junior Woodside.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114. Reverend Thomas Brown Jr., from Morning Star Baptist Church, and Reverend Louis Brooks Harrison, from Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, will officiate. The Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service. The Interment will follow at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana 70460.
