He was predeceased by: his wife Myrtle Folse Cortez; his children, Victor L. Cortez (late Kathleen), Murphy L. Cortez (Beth) and Connie C. Chedville (Wayne); his parents, Victor N. Cortez Sr. and Olympia B. Cortez; and his siblings, Malcolm Cortez, Victor Cortez Jr., Floyd Cortez, Manual Cortez and Elsia C. Callegan.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Renee C. Parks, Kris C. Ham, Stacie C. Guidry, Tracie C. Ross, Kim C. Fugarino, Drew Cortez and Cory Cortez; and his brother Leroy Cortez (Carmen). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews.
