He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel E. Steadman and Mary Cox Steadman; his wife Pauline Eppinette Steadman; and his siblings, Samme Baul, W. S. Steadman, Georgene Campbell, Pierce Steadman and Hayward Steadman.

He is survived by: his children, Starla Smith (Brian), Paula Bottoms (Michael) and Samuel Steadman, II; his grandchildren, Micah Bottoms, Anna Beth Bottoms, Julia Venable, Rebekah Bottoms, Emma Bottoms, Abigail Wilson, Christian Smith, Joshua Smith and Isabelle Smith; and his brother Reed Steadman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
