She was predeceased by: her parents, William Whitfield and Lillie Whitfield; her husband Rodney L. Stevens, Sr.; her son Rodney L. Stevens, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Sharron Stevens.

She is survived by: her children, Chris Stevens (Sandy), Mike Stevens and Rhonda Grubbs (Jeff); and her brother Donald Whitfield. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials may be made in Rita's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
