He was predeceased by: his parents, William Byron and Francis Ella Freeland; his siblings, Leonard Freeland, L. E. Freeland, Harry Freeland, Herbert Freeland and Teretha Freeland LaBlanc; and his daughters, Kathy Wheelis Reddick Garrett and Joy Lynn Wheelis Evans.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Freeland; and his children, Pam Wheelis Chapman (Dwayne), Tracy Wheelis Coon (Jeff) and John Freeland (Amber). He is also survived by ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
