He was predeceased by: his parents, Ovey Melancon and Eurma Melancon (Willa Mae Melancon); his son Tommy Melancon; his grandson David Melancon; his siblings, Overton "Teco" Melancon, Roy Melancon, Ruby Thibodeaux, Emma Higginbotham and Nola Harmon; and his sons-in-law, Michael "Mike" Meche, Wendel Bertrand, Ronnie Miller and Jimmy Baham.
He is survived by: his children, Milton Melancon, Jr. (Juliana), Darrell Melancon (Donna), Timmy Melancon, Teddy Melancon, Eleanor "Tiny" Baham, Melody Miller (Dustin) and Sharon Bertrand; and his sisters, Nora Miller, Eva Dell Duplechin, Margie Duplechin and Frances Miguez. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
