With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Bonvillain of New Orleans, Louisiana, born in Thibodaux, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 23, 2025 at the age of 102. She was predeceased by: her husbands, William Wheaton, Sr., Charles Banks, Jr. and Calvin Pollard; her parents, Hezekiah Bonvillain and Sarah Collins; and her siblings, Wilbert Anderson, Sr., Wilson Boveland and Evelyn Bonvillain.
She is survived by: her children, Sarah Wheaton Prosper (Lawrence), William Wheaton, Jr. (Debra), Geraldine Wheaton Guidroz (Elton), Malcolm J. Wheaten (Elizabeth), Charlette M. Banks Reese, Charles Kevin Banks and Sid Paul Banks (Charlette). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Mount Zion Baptist Church (168 Brocato Ln, Raceland, LA 70394). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
