He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Andrus Abshire and Jeanne Abshire; his brothers, Allen and Ned Abshire; his wife Ruth; his children, Jesse Abshire, Scott, Chuck (Shay Trout), Christina Summerlin and Andy; his grandchildren, Damian Shotwell, Hali Abshire, Wyatt (Addyson Abshire), Tylor (Gauge Abshire), Alexander Summerlin (Johnathan Summerlin) and Aidan (Baylor Abshire); and his siblings, Michael Abshire, Ruby O'Neal, Diana Smith, Roberta Ledoux and Marilyn George.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
