He was predeceased by: his parents, Hamilton Vines and Mildred Bunch; his wife Melba Watson Vines; and his siblings, Hamilton Eugene Vines, Richard Gilmore Vines and Mary Lee Vines Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Vines, Kelly of Gonzales, Shane Vines (Hope), Veronica LeMaire (Travis), April Vines and Bobbie of Gonzales; and his sisters, Vivian Ann Vines Moravsky of Greenwell Springs, Jessie Rose "Sissy" Vines Guillaume of Prairieville and Leona Aileen Vines Walters of Merrit Island, FL. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
