It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janella Becnel Smith of Independence, Louisiana, born in Napoleonville, Louisiana, who passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husbands, Louis A. Becnel Sr. and Walter Smith; her siblings, Emile, Jr., Jesse, Robert, Mabel Martin, Mary Morales and Agnes Naquin; and her great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kaitlynn, Kayla Lemons and Karsen Lemons.
She is survived by: her sister Elizabeth; her sons, Louis Jr. (Glenda), Leonard (Jo Ann) and Jimmy (Stacia); and her grandchildren, Louis Becnel IV (Robin), Shayne Bush (Linda), Rebecca Johnson (Shannon), Janine Mulkey (Stevie), Lenny Becnel (Amy), Troy Becnel (Rebecca), Chad Becnel (Rebecca), Jennifer Burchett, Jason and Celeste Matherne (Kerwin). She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
