She was predeceased by: her husband David M. Blackwell; her parents, Ezekiel Hutchinson and Ida Courtney Hutchinson; her siblings, Herman Hutchinson, Etta H. Albin and Edna H Schultz; and her son-in-law Tommy Goynes.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. David L. Blackwell (Joan), Delos M. Blackwell (Trudy), Dr. Dewey Blackwell (Cathy), Elda Verran Blackwell Thibeau (Brannon) and Velda Blackwell Goynes; her grandchildren, Tonya Blackwell Penalber, Ricky Blackwell, Jennifer Blackwell Rogers, Rodney Blackwell, Byron Blackwell, Michael Blackwell, Matthew Blackwell, Lawanda Ann Thibeau Sykes, Annette Goynes and David Goynes; and her brother Lloyd "Sonny" Hutchinson. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
