He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbert "Cootie" Joseph Sheets and Brunhilde "Tatum" Loupe Sheets; his siblings, Eugene Sheets, Addie Sheets and Patricia Dempster; and his siblings-in-law, Joseph "Buddy" Dempster and Jerry Michel.
He is survived by: his children, Jason Sheets (Heather), Hope Wireman, Anna Phelps and AJ Phelps; his grandchildren, Devon, Trevor, Ethan, Vance Wireman, Brynna Phelps and Adriene Phelps; his siblings, Barbara Michel, Ramona Debate (Blake), Gladys McManus (Cecil "Bo"), Charlotte Hidalgo (Dale) and Tommy Sheets (Donna); and his sister-in-law Faye Sheets. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
