He is survived by: his wife Mertie Mabeline Barnes Aswell; and his children, Jerry D. Aswell (Peggy), Susan C. Holman and Danny R. Aswell, Sr. (Judy). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
