It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sophie Jolene Burnitt Broxson (Dequincy, Louisiana), who passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her son Michael Broxson; and her parents, Edward (Paula Burnitt) and Readis (Patsy Horn). She is survived by: her friend Jolene; her husband Martin Terry Broxson of DeQuincy; her children, Alicia Guidry (David) of DeQuincy and Cory Broxson (Denise) of DeQuincy; her grandchildren, Nick, Sarah, Brandon, Briana, Noah, Matthew and Emily; and her brothers, John Burnitt (Darlene), Ernie Horn (Tina), Paul Burnitt (Nita), Darien Burnitt (Brigida) and Dustin Horn (Elizabeth). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First United Pentecostal Church - DeQuincy (230 Smith St, Dequincy, LA 70633). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Rigmaiden Cemetery.
