He was predeceased by: his wife Annie Pearl Stephenson; his parents, Richard Stephenson and Hazel Searcy Stephenson; and his siblings, Shirley Dickerson, Alice Cunningham, Judy Kelly, Marion Stephenson, Leon Stephenson, Russell Stephenson and Mike Stephenson.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Martin (Kenneth), Patricia Stephenson and Kenneth Stephenson (Teresa); his grandchildren, Angel Crawford (Bryan), Greg Stephenson (Nicky, JR), Jamie Norwood (Shannon), Kim Boyte (Matt), Eric Stephenson (Anna), Danyale Rushing (Alan), Bryan Thames (Haylie) and Haillie Johnson (Weston); and his siblings, Flora Bunch, Modena Gray, Bessie Flint, Linda Allen, Donice Cotton (David) and Billy Joe Stephenson (Sharon). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
