It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley R. Mouton of Chalmette, Louisiana, born in Saint Bernard, Louisiana, who passed away on May 16, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Wilton John Mouton; her daughters, Arlene Gettys and Janet Mouton; her parents, David Rodriguez and Mildred Rodriguez; and her brother Cyril Rodriguez.

She is survived by: her daughter Carrie Gioe (Frankie); her grandchildren, Dayna Rhodes (Robby) and Kelly Lauro (Max); and her great grandchildren, Rhett Rhodes and Josie Lauro. She is also survived by her children and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“Growing up I thought of Mrs Shirley and Mr John as family. They always invited us into their home and let us pick pecans in the back yard when we came to visit. Mrs Shirley was the sweetest little thing! Her friendship with my grandmother was always strong as they raised children just down the street from each other on Plaza Dr. My family treasured the Moutons and I feel so honored to have them apart of my childhood. Rest in peace beautiful lady”

“I’m so sorry to hear about Mrs. Shirley. She was my grandmother’s (Jackie Michel) best friend and I remember all the great times they had together when I was young. She and Mr. John always made the room light up with energy and smiles. My mom loved their oldest daughter Arlene like a sister. Heaven is reuniting Mrs. Shirley and Arlene with open arms and a huge hug. My condolences to family.”
