He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hartdegen and Catherine Hartdegen; his parents-in-law, Elmo and Lillian Lamare; and his daughter Erin.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Lamare Hartdegen; his children, Lisa Mehojevich (Mike), Cheryl Dendinger (Robbie), Carrie Mackin (Daniel), Jodi Acosta (Brian), Dale Hartdegen (Alice) and Troy Hartdegen; and his brother Robert Hartdegen. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
