He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Herrera Vasquez and Eulalia Contreras Banda; and his sibling Eulalio Herrera Contreras. He is survived by: his partner Angelle Thomas; his children, Nancy Cecilia Herrera, Monica Herrera, Norma Yvette Ibarra Herrera and Isidro Herrera Jr.; his stepchildren, Trey and Donnie Thomas; his grandchildren, Destiny Odeth Ledezma, Demetrio Vera Jr., Delaney Monseratt Ledezma, Diego Alberto Loera, Dianey Yaritza Vera, Christian Alejandro Loera, Miguel Angel Ibarra, Juan Antonio Ledezma, Mayrani Elizabeth Ibarra, Sophia Elise Herrera, Ingrid Marie Herrera, Eva Monik Loera and Ramiro Herrera; his stepgrandchildren, Zaleigh, Avery and Owen Thomas; his siblings, Jose Guadalupe Herrera Contreras, Apolonia Herrera Contreras, Teresa Herrera Contreras and Sanjuanita Herrera Contreras; and his former wife Juana Maria Botello.
