She was predeceased by: her husband Howard Eitel; her grandson James Walter Nix II; her mother Thelma Cooper; her stepfather Edward S. Cooper of Texarkana; and her sister Betty Hancock.

She is survived by: her daughter Lisa Funderburk Nix; her son-in-law James "Jimmy" Nix of Benton, Louisiana.; her stepchildren, Trina Randal of Jacksonville and Ron Eitel of Texarkana, Texas.; her nephew Christopher Hancock of Magnolia, Texas.; her close friends, Barbara Blue of Jacksonville, Carroll "Doog", Betty McDougal, Margaret Story, Rufus Gulley and Mary Lacy; and her friend Jane Lorance.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the American Cancer Society in Mazie's memory.
