He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa Porter Byrd and Mae Conley Byrd; his son Gary Michael Byrd; and his sister Virginia Williams. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Byrd; his children, Charlotte Byrd Graves (Jacky) of West Liberty, KY, Justin Byrd (Mary Ruth) of Winchester, KY, Phillip Byrd (Karen) of West Liberty, KY, James Byrd (Genoa) of West Liberty, KY and Lisa Byrd Lewis (Jimmy) of West Liberty, KY; and his grandchildren, Gary Prater, Jennifer Leach, Shawna Ward, Myrisa Christy, Wesley Byrd, Kristie VanCleave, Amberlee Cobbler, Kimberlee Blevins, Eric Byrd and Graham Lewis. He is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
