He was predeceased by: his parents, Mahlon Hampton and Mary Alice Elswick Hampton; his wife Bessie "Boots" Hampton; and his siblings, Russell, Basil, Hassel, Johnny, Elmer, Edgar Hampton, Lottie Tackett, Lettie Pugh, Hettie Hampton and Stella Rowe.
He is survived by: his daughter Gwen Newsome (Anthony) of Virgie; and his granddaughter Chrissy Martin (Cody). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
