He was predeceased by: his parents, Renzel Smith and Doris Buehner Smith; and his brother Bernard Smith. He is survived by: his sister Beverly Etcheson; his brother-in-law Ken Etcheson; his nieces, Kathy Donahue (Alan), Tammy Maynard (Tim) and Sherry Powell; his nephew Scott Etcheson (Brandy); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Corey, Zach Maynard, Brad, Rachel Donahue, Taylor Powell, Alysa Harman, Jonathan Harman-Haynes and Landon Bierman.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs with donation directed to the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central Fort Knox and payable to Kentucky Veterans Program Trust Fund or Hosparus of Louisville.
