She is survived by: her husband Richard Kirtley, III; her siblings, Regina Michaels (Gregory) of Clarksville, TN and Stephen Caldwell; her aunt Christine Brown (Robert) of Versailles, KY; her uncles, James Wheat (Charlotte) of Lexington, KY, Frank Carter of Versailles, KY., Jeffery Wheat of Versailles, KY. and Tony Wheat of Versailles, KY.; her sister-in-law Danita Kirtley of Frankfort, KY; and her cousin Teresa Tyler of Versailles, KY.
Rita supported many community events including American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Race for the Cure (Susan B. Komen), she was an active member of the Bosom Buddies, and the Pink Sisters.
