He was predeceased by: his father Kernie Wallen; his daughter Lisa Kugel; and his brothers, John Shelby Wallen and David Wallen. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Spears Wallen; his children, Phillip Wallen of Salyersville, Teresa Minix (Adam) of Salyersville and Carolyn Sue Bass of Portsmouth; his son-in-law Robert Kugel; his siblings, Wilburn Wallen (Ethel Fay) of Salyersville, Kernie Wallen, Jr. (Lisa) of Salyersville, Brenda Solomon of Paintsville and Linda Lou Howard (Pernell) of Salyersville; and his grandchildren, Lynn Kristin Kugel, Ocean Kugel, Erin Kugel, James Kernie Kugel, Amber Nichole Kugel, Anessa Caldwell, Dakota Wallen, Skyler James Howard, A. J. Bass and Alena Gail Bass. He is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
