It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Oakes of Russell Springs, Kentucky, born in Russell, Kentucky, who passed away on June 11, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Chumbley and Ermine Roy Chumbley; her husband Lewell "Beager" Oakes; her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Jo Oakes; and her siblings, Ernest Chumbley, Arlis Chumbley, Carlus Chumbley, Velna Oakes, Goldie McQueary, Dortha Hopper, Lorene Popplewell and Betty Bunch.
She is survived by: her daughters, Lisa Burton (Kelly, Jr.) of Russell Springs and Pamela Lewis (Curtis) of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Ashley Ellen Hill (Daniel) of Somerset, Joshua Burton (Amanda Weiand) of Russell Springs, Leonard Coppage (Ashley) of Russell Springs and Nicholas Coppage (Tabitha) of Russell Springs; her stepgrandson Alex Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; her great grandchildren, Cooper Hill, Kinsley Hill of Somerset, Jaxtyn Burton of Russell Springs, Jensyn Burton of Russell Springs, Tyson Coppage of Russell Springs and Blayton Coppage of Russell Springs; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Ethan Coenen of Russell Springs and Buck Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; her godsons, Benjamin Oakes of Russell Springs and Brent Oakes of Hernando, Mississippi; and her sisters, Modene Brockman (Dorman) of Milford and Alice Marie Stephens of Jamestown.
