He was predeceased by: his father Jerry Matthew Chatman, Sr.; his wife Mamie Carneyhan Chatman; his daughter Misty Dawn Chatman; and his brother Brian Chatman. He is survived by: his mother Virginia "Kitty" McGillen Chatman of Granite Falls, N. C.; his children, Jerry M. Chatman, III of Morganton, N. C., Jedidiah M. Chatman of Newton, N. C., Jonathan M. Chatman of Charleston, W. V., Melissa Abernathy Charleston of Charleston, W. V., Kathleen E. Chatman of Charleston, W. V., Chasity Bumgarner (Rick) of Claremont, N. C. and Jennifer Gee of South Carolina; his stepchildren, Charles "Scooter" Ezell of Cadiz, Teresa Freeman (Tony) of Paducah, Shelia Ezell (Stephanie Kaneshiro) of Kamuela and Kristina Bush of Princeton; and his siblings, Ronald E. Chatman (Kim) of Hickory, N. C., Susan Chatman (Steve Migielicz) of Hickory, N. C. and Mickey McDaris of Granite Falls, N. C.. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
