He was predeceased by: his father Donald L. Hughes, Sr.; and his father-in-law P. Thomas Pfeffer. He is survived by: his wife Laura Lee Pfeffer Hughes; his mother Carol Hughes; his siblings, Debbi Hughes Strickland (Browning) and Tony Hughes (Melissa); his siblings-in-law, Sharon Phillips (Mike) and Mark Kratzar (Amy); his nephews, Jordan Hughes, Logan Hughes, Stephen Phillips (Megan), Ethan Kratzar and Ryan Kratzar; his niece Olivia Kratzar; his great-nephew Sawyer Phillips; and his mothers-in-law, Judy Pfeffer and Virginia Kratzar. He is also survived by friends and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick School or the Mason County Animal Shelter.
