He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Ray; his son Ricky Ray; his grandson John David Dunham; his siblings, Sonny Ray, Bill Ray and Mayda Nell Rowland; and his parents, John W. Ray and Alma Lee Walker Ray.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Phelps (Donnie) of Farmington, Carol James of Wingo, Melissa Ray of Mayfield, Rhonda Ray of Murray and Mary Parker (Tommy) of Mayfield; and his sister Shirley Smith of Mayfield. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
