He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Stairs; his son Terry Lynn Stairs; his siblings, Jean Bell Speed, Curtis Stairs, Edgar Stairs, Calvin Stairs, Vernon Stairs and David Stairs; and his parents, Felix Calvin and Virgie Frazier Stairs.
He is survived by: his children, Judith Gale of Queen Creek, Debra Gardner (Dennis) of Mayfield, John Stairs of Mayfield, Randall Stairs (Sherri) of Hickory and Paul Stairs (Karen) of Mayfield; his grandchildren, Loretta Waite, Ronnie, Angel, Michael, Christopher Gale of Arizona, Mickey Gardner of Florida, Zollie Gardner of Ohio, Jason Wall and Maddox Stairs of Mayfield; his great grandchildren, Joseph Grace of Arizona, Justin Grace of Washington State and Asialyn Wall of Mayfield; and his great great grandchildren, Wyatt Grace of Washington State and Sadie Grace of Idaho.
