He is survived by: his spouse Terry Lynn Mazzie Yates; his children, Shannon Lee Yates (late Mandy Compton) of Phelps, Kentucky, Brittany Ann Yates (Jimmy Justice) of Printer, Keisha Dawn Newsome (Bart) of Pikeville and Terri Smith (Jeff Townes) of Betsy Layne, Kentucky; his stepson Jeffrey Remick of Pikeville, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Madison Olivia Justice, Brayden Orville Lee Justice, Evelyn Marie Yates, Myles Keaton Yates, Braxton Nathaniel Carter Newsome, Jazmine Dawn Newsome, Zachary Bartholomew Newsome, Nathan Hayes Smith, Davina Compton and Caden Smith; and his siblings, Tim Yates (Louise), Denzil Yates Jr., Helen Isaac (late Tom), Connie Mullins (late Estill) and Nadine Herrell (Mike).
