It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Emelie Guelda (Louisville, Kentucky), who passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elsie A. Mock and John J. Effinger, Sr.; her husband Tom; her siblings, Ann, Marie Sullivan (Tom), John J. Effinger, Jr., Charles E. Effinger, Sr. and George D. Effinger; her niece Lynn Effinger; and her children-in-law, Pamela Guelda and Joseph Hutti.
She is survived by: her children, Sally Sheeley (Ronnie), Kathie Hutti and Doug; her grandchildren, Sara, Dee, Julie, Emily and Nick; her great grandchildren, Thomas, Norah, Elizabeth, Andrew, Eleanore, Chloe and Camina; and her sisters, Cecilia Mazzoni, Barbara Russell (Jack) and Carolyn Foerster. She is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home (4832 Cane Run Rd, Louisville, KY 40216). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church (4005 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent Depaul Society in Mary's memory.
