He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennie Whobrey and Sally Langdon Whobrey; the mother of his children Virginia Stewart Whobrey; his spouse Dorlis Mattingly Whobrey; his son Martin "Marty" Whobrey; and his sisters, Alma Burden and Lillian Smiley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Peggy Carroll (Sonny) of Leitchfield and Pam Whobrey of Leitchfield; his grandchildren, Angela Carroll Scott (Dax) of Chicago and Michael Carroll of Louisville; his great grandchildren, Addy, Maddie, Lizzie and Emmy of Chicago; his sister Betty Jamison of Louisville; and his close friend Bonnie Grubs of Clarkson.
